Unlock Training

Unlocking the Bible in Urban Communities.
Unlocking the Bible in Urban Communities.

Our life experience matters; our stories; our joys and sorrows. The Bible has plenty to say - more than we'll ever know - about our lives if we know how to read it and apply it; to ‘Unlock’ it. For many people, especially those in urban communities, hearing about Unlock's approach to Bible engagement brings a eureka moment as they discover a way forward with a fringe group that doesn’t relate to traditional Bible studies or formal church meetings.

Unlock training will give you the knowledge and confidence to apply this approach to your own local context and to share it with others.

One participant at a recent Unlock training event sent us this message: ‘I wanted to say thank you so much for all the resources you’ve produced. They have been invaluable in my context, and have really helped some of our local people to start to engage with conversations around faith and begin to open up with one another. Thank you so much for making these available. I attended an Unlock training day which was great to hear more about the Unlock learning cycle and how it was developed.

Over the past year we have started a Wellbeing group at my church. I had the idea of starting a small group based around Wellbeing, and offering faith as something which could aid people in their wellbeing. We began by using some of the Unlock resources, and they worked really well. We adapted them to suit our context, and then have started writing our own resources.’

In recent years Unlock has delivered Training for Sheffield, Durham and Lichfield Diocese, and in Ipswich as well as an annual training day at Queen’s Foundation in Edgbaston. In the past we have provided training for a wide range of different denominations, churches, and organisations; accommodating anything from 6 to 40 people. These events are enjoyable as well as informative and can be arranged for a location and time to suit your staff and/or volunteers. Charges are modest; designed to cover our costs.

We are now arranging Unlock Training events for the last quarter of 2026 and throughout 2027. We’d be happy to talk the options through with you and always do our best to tailor our offer to your specific needs.

Enclosed/attached you will find our training leaflet and a sample poster.  Please contact us if you’d like to know more about what we can offer.

Best wishes
